Go ice skating at the Rockefeller Centre (600 Fifth Ave, between 49th and 50th Sts) or at the Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park (enter at Central Park South and 6th Ave)

The Best New York Museum

Spend a day or two at the Museum of Natural History. Central Park West and 79th St. 

Country Kitsch

Try the famous pink lemonade served in original mason glass jars at Kitchenette Cafe in the Tribeca area. 156 Chambers Street, between Greenwich St and West Broadway.  

Men in Black

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or late night cake in the chrome Empire Diner featured in the Men in Black films. West 22nd St at 10th Ave.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and get great views back towards Manhattan. 

Free Cruise

A great way to see the Statue of Liberty is to travel on the Staten Island Ferry. This is a free commuter ferry that you can catch at the bottom of the Financial District. The ferry takes 30 minutes each way. 

The Largest Store in the World

When visiting Macy's go to the visitor information desk to receive a 10% discount card when you show your non US passport. 34th St and 6th Ave. 

 

Birds Eye View

Get a fantastic view of Manhattan and beyond at the observation level on the 86th Floor of the Empire State Building. 34th St and 5th Ave. 

Remember an Icon

See the John Lennon 'Imagine' mosaic at Strawberry Fields in Central Park.

Superman Sight

See the giant globe and inspiration for the Daily Planet in the Superman movies at the News Building lobby. 42nd Street. 

Kiosk 95

Shop for rare and international mundane items that are beautifully designed and ever changing at Kiosk 95 in Soho. The second floor shop is entered through a well designed back alley styled entrance. Spring St, between Broadway and Mercer St.

Chelsea Piers Golf Academy

An expensive yet awesome practice facility. There's a three tier driving range, golf simulators and personal instruction available. 23rd St and Hudson River.

The Best Secondhand Bookstore

With 18 Miles of books the Strand Bookstore offers a huge collection of over 2 million discount titles. Reviewer discounts are downstairs and rare collections are upstairs. 828 Broadway at 12 St.

Loeb Boathouse

Rent a rowboat from Loeb Boathouse and go rowing in Central Park. Open daily from April to October, weather permitting. Midpark at 75 St.

Drink on the Roof

On the top of the Flatiron office complex, 230 Fifth is a massive rooftop bar that offers excellent views of the Empire State Building, MetLife and Chrysler Building. 230 Fifth Ave, between 26th and 27th Sts. 

Federal Reserve Bank

Roughly a quarter of the world gold is stored in the vaults that rest on the bedrock of Manhattan. Free tours take place every morning, once an hour. You need to register prior by phone or online. 

Cafe Habana

Visit the Cuban-Mexican chrome corner spot for the addictive grilled corn. Locals also love the takeout annex next door, where you can get corn on a stick to go. 17 Prince St at Elizabeth St. 

Highline Park – New York

An elevated railway line which once carried freight over the tough streets of New York's Meatpacking District has reopened as the city's newest and trendiest park. www.thehighline.org

Grimaldi's - Best Pizza in New York

The slightly burnt crust, gooey cheeses, sweet tomato sauce, and a Brooklyn lager to wash it down makes for one great lunch or dinner in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn. 19 Old Fulton Street, Brooklyn.
